Cage of every unclean and hateful bird – Revelation 18:2 – “I saw that since Jesus left the holy place of the heavenly sanctuary and entered within the second veil the churches have been filling up with every unclean and hateful bird. I saw great iniquity and vileness in the churches; yet their members profess to be Christian. Their profession, their prayers, and their exhortations are an abomination in the sight of God…All heaven beholds with indignation human beings, the workmanship of god, reduced by their fellow men to the lowest depths of degradation and placed on a level with the brute creation….Revelation 18:2 quoted. The message of the fall of Babylon, as given by the second angel (Revelation 14:8), is repeated, with the additional mention of the corruptions which have been entering the churches since 1844.” EW 274,275,277. Calling – “Calling and justification are not one and the same thing. Calling is the drawing of the sinner to Christ, and it is a work wrought by the Holy Spirit upon the heart, convicting of sin, and inviting to repentance.” I SM 390

 

Candle- “Jesus used the light of a candle to represent His doctrines.” 2 SP 243

 

Catholic –

1.     The church universal.

2.     The ancient undivided Christian church, or a church claiming historical continuity from it.

3.     Comprehensive, universal.

4.     A person who belongs to the universal Christian church; especially Roman Catholic. Merriam Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary 10th edition. 1999

 

Cedar of Lebanon – “Above all other trees the cedar of Lebanon is distinguished for its strength, its firmness, its undecaying vigor; and this is used as a symbol of those whose life is “hid with Christ in God.” Colossians 3:3…The divine hand has exalted the cedar as king over the forest…The cedar is repeatedly employed as an emblem of royalty, and its use in Scripture to represent the righteous shows how Heaven regards those who do the will of God.” PP 450

 

Censer – Sanctuary object in which coals of fire burned the sweet smelling incense to cover the smell of the blood of the sacrifices and carried the prayers of God’s praying people up to heaven. This censer  was made of brass and was carried by the priest, both common and High Priest, and was used in the daily activities of the sanctuary and the golden censer in the Most Holy Place activities of the Sanctuary.  CO

Authorized Uses of the censer:

Daily activities were conducted with a brazen censer. Numbers 16:6-7,35,36-40

Services in the Most Holy Place were conducted with a Golden Censer. Hebrews 9:1-4; I Kings 7:50; II Chronicles 4:22

Incense to cover the mercy seat during the Day of Atonement. Leviticus 16:12-13

Jesus comes to the altar of incense in the heavenly sanctuary and offers His incense with the prayers of the saints. He then casts the censer into the earth. Revelation 8:3-5

 

Rebellious uses of the censer:

Nadab and Abihu were destroyed for offering  “strange” fire before the Lord. Leviticus 10:1-2, 9-10

250 Princes of Israel were destroyed by fire for offering incense. Numbers 16:1-35

King Uzziah was given leprosy for offering incense in an unauthorized manner. II Chronicles 26:15-23

Seventy elders are seen by Ezekiel in vision offering incense to idols. Ezekiel 8:11

 

Censer - "The Lord's workers need the melting love of Jesus in their hearts. Let every minister live as a man among men. Let him, in well-regulated methods, go from house to house, bearing ever the censer of heaven's fragrant atmosphere of love." EV 348-349

 

Censer- “He (Jesus) holds before the Father the censer of His own merits.” 6 BC 1078, 1 SM 344

 

Censer – golden – “In the golden censer of truth, as presented in Christ’s teachings, we have that which will convict and convert souls.” Ev 601

 

Cephas - "Thou are Simon the son of Jonas; thou shalt be called Cephas (or Peter), which is by interpretation, a stone." John 1:42

 

Chaff – “The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.” Psalms 1:4

 

Chaff – “The church may appear as about to fall, but it does not fall. It remains, while the sinners in Zion will be sifted out – the chaff separated from the precious wheat.” II SM 380

 

Chain – A form of restraint, or of support, composed of physical items or spiritual issues. CO

          Physical:

Pharaoh puts a gold chain about Joseph’s neck to show rulership. Genesis 41:42; Daniel 5:7,16,29

          Chain work on the pillars in Solomon’s temple. I Kings 7:17

Paul brought to Rome in chains, which shows captivity. Acts 28:20

Chain work to support the various pieces of the High Priest’s garments. Exodus 28:13-14; 39:15-18

Gold chains offered as atonement monies after conquest of Midian. Numbers 31:48-54

Gideon sets up false worship system by gathering gold chains after war. Judges 8:24-27

Solomon makes a partition of gold chains before the oracle of God (the Most Holy Place). I Kings 6:21

Zedekiah is blinded and put in chains by Nebuchadnezzar. Jeremiah 39:6-7 (Zedekiah had already blinded himself by rejecting the prophets and placed himself in chains by his evil course of behavior. II Chronicles 36:11-16; Psalms 73:6 CO)

Ninevah, the capitol of Assyrian, will be placed in chains for her witchcraft and rebellion. Nahum 3:1-10

Demon possessed man of the Gadarenes broke his literal chains but needed the help of Jesus to break his spiritual chains. Mark 5:1-15; Luke 8:26-35

Peter bound with physical chains but the angel delivered him from Herod. Acts 12:6-8

 

          Spiritual:

Therefore pride compasseth them about as a chain; violence covereth them as a garment. Psalms 73:6  

Thou hast ravished my heard with one of thine eyes, with one chain of thy neck. Song of Solomon 4:9

Make a chain: for the land is full of bloody crimes, and the city is full of violence…I will do unto them after their way, and according to their deserts will I judge them and they shall know that I am the Lord. Ezekiel 7:23-27 (In this context the evil deeds of the nation are the chains that bind them to satan.)

I decked thee also with ornaments, and I put bracelets upon they hands, and a chain on thy neck. Ezekiel 16:11 (A prophetic description of holiness – Proverbs 3:3 states that mercy and truth are to be bound upon the neck, Proverbs 1:7-9 state that wisdom, instruction and law are ornaments of grace unto thy head and chains about thy neck.)

Paul brought to Rome in chains for the hope of Israel. Acts 28:20

Onesiphorus was not ashamed of the chains of Paul. II Timothy 1:16

The dragon is bound with chains by the angel – of the gospel given by God’s people and by the coming of Jesus and depriving satan of anyone to tempt. Revelation 20:1-3 CO

God sets the solitary in families, He bringeth out those which are bound with chains…Psalms 68:6 (Jesus delivers the captive into God’s earthly family – His church and they help the captives go free. Isaiah 58:6-12)

Chains are a symbol of Israel’s captivity to Egypt and Babylon. Ezekiel 19:4,9

Angels bound with spiritual chains of spiritual darkness. II Peter 2:4; Jude 6

My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother, for they shall be an ornament of grace unto thy head and chains about thy neck." Proverbs 1:8-9; 3:1-3; 3:21-22; 4:7-9; 6:20-21

Chains - "...the chains of error and superstition..." GC 79

 

Chambers- (Isaiah 26:20)- “What are the chambers in which they are to hide? – They are the protection of Christ and Holy Angels.” 4 BC 1143

 

Channels - "Hearts that respond to the influence of the Holy Spirit are the channels through which God's blessings flow." DA 306

 

Character- “Character is the great harvest of life.” MB 90

 

Character – “Wealth, with all its attendant temptations, came in Solomon’s day to an increasingly large number of people; but the fine gold of character was dimmed and marred.” PK 55

 

Character- Moral- “If the thoughts are wrong, the feelings will be wrong; and the thoughts and feelings combined make up the moral character.” MYP 92

 

Character - noble - "A noble character is not the result of accident, it is not due to special favors or endowments of Providence. It is the result of self-discipline, of subjection of the lower to the higher nature, of the surrender of self to the service of God and man." PK 488

 

Character of God- “knowledge of good.” GC 46

 

Character of Satan- “knowledge of evil.” GC 46

 

Character- Strength of- “Strength of character consists of two things, power of will and power of self-control.” GC 161-162

 

Character- Transformation of- “Transformation of character is the testimony to the world of an indwelling Christ.” PK 233

 

Character- True- “True character is a quality of the soul revealing itself in the conduct.” GC 161-162

 

Chariots of God- “The chariots of God are twenty thousand, even thousands of angels.” Ps. 68:17

 

Chasm - “To learn of Christ means to receive His grace, which is His character. But those who do not appreciate and utilize the precious opportunities and sacred opportunities and sacred influences granted them on earth, are not fitted to take part in the pure devotion of heaven. Their characters are not molded according to the divine similitude. By their own neglect they have formed a chasm which nothing can bridge. Between them and the righteous there is a great gulf fixed.” COL 271

 

Children of Abraham - "Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham." Galatians 3:7; see also verses 26-28.

 

Chosen - In Strong's concordance there are 16 different words used to express the idea of chosen. The words have the following general concepts involved - selecting, choosing, electing, to gather, to vote. To be chosen is to have the qualities and desires to be a part of God's people to the point that God will choose you to be a part of His people.  CO

Jesus the Chosen One:

Jesus was the "servant" whom God had "chosen" because He was willing to obey the Spirit of God. Matthew 12:14-21

The rulers ridicule Jesus on the cross and cry "let Him save Himself if He is Christ, the Chosen of God." Luke 23:35

 

Parables of being Chosen:

In the parable of the marriage feast the bidden were called and refused to come and the king destroyed them and burned their city. Then the king calls for the good and bad and the wedding feast is furnished with guests. One guest is cast out for not having on the wedding garment - many are called but few cooperate to the point of being chosen. Matthew 22:1-14 A study on the Jews and Gentiles. CO

In the parable of the workers the early workers murmured against God for making the last workers equal to them.  Many are called but few are chosen. Matthew 20:1-16

 

God's Chosen people:

God asks His people to choose life so that they could love and obey God. This implies that they had the ability to refuse to love and obey God. Deuteronomy 30:19-20

God chose Israel not because of their great numbers but because of His promise to their fathers and His love for them. Deuteronomy 7:6-8

God reproves His people for they have chosen not to fear the Lord for they have hated the knowledge of Him. Proverbs 1:29

God warns the elect, whom He has chosen, to beware of false prophets. Mark 13:14-23

God's people are to refuse the evil and choose the good. Isaiah 7:15

God's people are with Him, called, chosen, faithful. Revelation 17:14

God's people chose to follow false gods. Judges 10:10-16

God's people chose to reject Him and chose a king. I Samuel 8:18; 12:12-13

God's people have chosen death rather than life. Jeremiah 8:1-3

God's people to choose a good name rather than silver or gold. Proverbs 22:1

God's people were chosen to be living stones in His temple, to be a royal priesthood, and a holy nation. I Peter 2:1-10

God's people will keep His Sabbath and choose those things that please Him and that take hold of His covenant. Isaiah 56:1-8

In Numbers 17 God chose to reveal His chosen High Priest - Aaron.

In the contest between Korah and Moses God would reveal whom His servant was to be leader of Israel. Numbers 16:1-35 especially v. 7.

Jesus chose the 12 and one of them was a devil. John 6:70; John 13:18

Jesus selected/chose the disciples out of the world. John 15:19

Joshua chose out certain men to fight against Amalek. Exodus 17:9

Joshua commands that Israel choose which God they would serve. Joshua 24:15

Moses chose to suffer with God's people rather than have a life of political success. Hebrews 11:25

Paul was a chosen vessel of God. Acts 9:15

Rufus was chosen in the Lord. Romans 16:13

The disciples did not choose Jesus but He chose them that they could bear much fruit for Him. John 15:16

The Holy One of Israel has chosen His people. Isaiah 49:7

Church – is the body of Christ. Colossians 1:18,24

 

Church- “From the beginning, faithful souls have constituted the church on earth.” AA 11

 

Church – “God has a church, a chosen people;…” TM 20

 

Church – Revelation 11:2 – “Said the angel of the Lord: “The holy city shall they tread underfoot forty and two months….” The period here mentioned – “forty and two months” and “a thousand two hundred and threescore days” – are the same, alike representing the time in which the church of Christ was to suffer oppression from Rome.” GC 266

Church – on earth – “Many of these converts from heathenism would wish to unite themselves fully with the Israelites, and accompany them on the return journey to Judea. None of these were to say, “The Lord hath utterly separated me from His people;” Isaiah 56:3; for the word of God through His prophet to those who should yield themselves to Him and observe His law, was that they should thenceforth be numbered among spiritual Israel – His church on earth.” PK 372

 

Churches - names of (Revelation 2&3) - "The names of the seven churches are symbolic of the church in different periods of the Christian era….While the symbols used reveal the condition of the church at different periods in the history of the world." AA 585

 

Church, Satan's - "Satan has a large confederacy, his church. Christ call them the synagogue of Satan because the members are the children of sin. The members of Satan's church have been constantly working to cast off the divine law, and confuse the distinction between good and evil. Satan is working with great power in and through the children of disobedience to exalt treason and apostasy as truth and loyalty. And at this time the power of his satanic inspiration is moving the living agencies to carry out the great rebellion against God that commenced in heaven." TM 16 See Synagogue of Satan.

 

Church – working – “It is when we are engaged in earnest work, working according to our several abilities, that God manifests Himself to us, and gives us grace for grace. A working church in travail for souls will be a praying church, a believing church, and a receiving church. A church whose members are found upon their knees before God, supplicating His mercy, seeking Him daily, is a church that is feeding upon the bread of life, and drinking the waters of life. The promise, “whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in My name, He will give it you,” will be verified to them.” TM 205

 

Church - Signs of True -

1. Keeps the faith of Jesus and preaches the gospel of Jesus. Revelation 14:12,6

2. Keep the commandments of God. Revelation 14:12

3. Keep the Sabbath of the commandments of God. Revelation 14:7; 1:10; Isaiah 58:13

4. Have the gift of prophecy present in the church. Revelation 12:17; 19:10

5. Accept the Sanctuary Concept. Hebrews 8:2; 9:11,24; Revelation 11:19

6. Do not drink of the wine of Babylon. Revelation 17:2

7.     Preach the 3 angels messages of Revelation 14:6-12 and the prophecies of Daniel and Revelation. Daniel 12:9; Revelation 10; 1:1-3. CO

 

Church - Signs of false (the Synagogue of Satan. Revelation 2:9; 3:9)

1. They claim that they are spiritual Jews and are not. Revelation 2:9; 3:9

2. This church is angry at the remnant that keeps the commandments of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ. Revelation 12:17

3. This church commands the worship of the beast and the image of the beast. Revelation 13:12, 15

4.     This church preaches that the abominations of the world are acceptable concepts for worship. Revelation 17:2,4. See Abominations

5.     This church teaches that Jesus came not in the flesh (human nature of David and Abraham.) II John 7; I John 4:3

6.     This church denies that Jesus is the Christ. I John 2:22

7.     This church denies the place of the law of God in the plan of salvation and attempts to change the laws of God. Daniel 7:25

8.     This church teaches that God's times have been changed. Daniel 7:25

9.     This church attempts to nullify the daily ministry of Jesus by substituting its own priesthood and keeps the focus on earth rather than in heaven. Daniel 8:11

10.             This church attempts to keep the focus on the earthly sanctuary rather on the heavenly sanctuary. Daniel 8:11

11.             This church is continually attacking, altering, or ignoring the truths of God. Daniel 11:12

12.             This church is constantly trying to refocus the covenant away from Jesus and His people to other intercessors. Daniel 11:28,30

13.             This church constantly persecutes God's people. Daniel 7:25; Revelation 13:7

14.             This church will teach that it is okay to ignore God's Sabbaths and His prophets. Ezekiel 22:26; II Chronicles 36:16;

 

Circle of obligation - "True education imparts this wisdom. It teaches the best use not only of one but of all our powers and acquirements. Thus it covers the whole circle of obligation--to ourselves, to the world, and to God." ED 225

 

Circuit - of beneficence - "All things Christ received from God, but He took to give. So in the heavenly courts, in His ministry for all created beings: through the beloved Son, the Father' life flows out to all; through the Son it returns, in praise and joyous service, a tide of love, to the great Source of all. And thus through Christ the circuit of beneficence is complete, representing the character of the great Giver, the law of life." DA 21

 

Circumcision - A spiritual decision (where thinking and emotions are joined under the influence of the Holy Spirit) to submit to and cooperate with God. Historically circumcision was symbolized by the removal of the male foreskin; spiritually circumcision was signaled by obedience to every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.
